Co-Founder

Bimwewe (Serena Graves-Daniel)

Bimwewe was born and raised on the Red Lake Indian Reservation and is an enrolled band member of Red Lake. She attended Red Lake Schools K-12 and later attended Bemidji State University, earning a bachelor's degree in 2021. Bimwewe subsequently obtained her Masters of Science from St. Cloud State in 2023. Throughout her academic and professional career, Bimwewe places the highest importance on learning to speak Ojibwe and ensuring that the language remains a top priority in all pursuits.

Aazhoo-bines (John Daniel)

Aazhoob is from Duluth, MN, and is an enrolled member of the Leech Lake Band. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University in 2019 after attending FDLTCC. He also obtained a post-baccalaureate certificate in Dual Language and Immersion Teaching at the University of Minnesota-TC, and is working towards his M.Ed. Aazhoo-bines has been dedicated to studying the Ojibwe language since 2014. His primary focus is to promote and provide support for Ojibwe learners, with the goal of facilitating wider usage and normalization of the language within our communities.

Victoria Irons-Graves

Victoria Irons Graves, Waawaashkeshi, has lived on the Red Lake reservation for most of her life along with raising five children who also have been an important part of her life and now work for the Red Lake people. She has had a passion for the preservation of Indigenous language, culture and a traditional way of life.

Inclusive of this was years of study at Bemidji State University in social work and Native American studies. This led to several careers in social work as the director of human services on the Red Lake

reservation, and director of community education for the Red Lake School district.

Grant writing has always been integrated into her career with many grants funded for youth and community services. Several of these grants authored eventually ended up permanent funding for the Red Lake Band and the Red Lake school district.
